By offering merit-based awards for academic achievement, the President, directors and staff of the Cree Mineral Exploration Board (the CMEB) wish to challenge and encourage the students in the Cree School Board (the CSB) high schools to excel in the sciences and mathematics.
In view of this, the Cree Mineral Exploration Board invites the principals of all nine high schools in the Cree School Board to submit the name of the Secondary V graduating student with the highest combined grades in Physical Sciences (Sec IV) and Mathematics (Sec V) in each of the English and French sectors for a merit-based award of $400 recognizing academic achievement in the sciences and mathematics. Schools with both English and French sectors will have two recipients.
Criteria:
The student must be graduating from Secondary V from a Cree School Board school. The student must be a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement.
Terms of payment:
The scholarships will be awarded at graduation ceremonies.
Deadline:
There is no date deadline. Principals inform the CMEB of the award recipient(s) name(s) and grade(s) after the June semester.
We hope that these awards will motivate students to strive for academic achievement in the sciences and mathematics by attending classes and actively participating in school work.
